Monday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

March 19, 2018

"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her." (Mt 1: 20).

St Joseph was Jesus' daddy, his papa.

And as the model daddy, he was in charge of the family. When St Joseph learned of Mary's pregnancy, he was in a conundrum--we, too have many periods in our lives re: conundrums. --What do we do with what we know of another person?

We can learn from St Joseph.

1. HE GOT UP --actually God's messengers got Him up and helped him discern .

2. HE TOOK CHARGE of the situation (decided not to turn Mary in)

3. He believed in God and went FORWARD with his family , accepting his role of fatherhood and surrounded by the mystery of the birth of God made man.

St Joseph, please teach us obedience and trust.
