"What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?"
They paid him thirty pieces of silver, and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over. (Mt 26:15-16)
Have you ever "sold" someone out---
at work -- not helping a fellow worker if they get behind, or finding yourself wanting to outshine your coworker, letting your boss know that the error was not yours...
at home -- cold shoulder, not talking for days--you know, the silent treatment, working long hours, not fulfilling our duties
with family--deliberately leaving someone out of family gatherings or writing them off as worthless or no good, slamming the door on them for being different, not praying for their souls,
at church --finding fault in others ....forgetting that we are no better than they because we are all sinners.....avoiding sitting next to them, judging them as they speak or sing....
For far less than thirty pieces of silver .....
Let us make reparation for our sins, go make a good confession and abstain from a favorite food, activity, talking...make reparation for the sins of others offering God our prayers for offenses and denials and betrayals hurled at Him.
