Monday in the Octave of Easter April 2, 2018

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them.

They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee,

and there they will see me." (Matthew 28:8-10)

Reflection

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary discovered the empty tomb of Jesus. Shortly after they left the tomb, Jesus met and greeted them. These two women were the first to witness not only the empty tomb but also the first appearance of Jesus after His Resurrection.

Consider and reflect on the following questions:

1. What did they think when they found the empty tomb?

2. How did they react?

3. How did they feel when they saw the Risen Jesus?

4. What did they say about the events that took place?

5. How would the disciples react when told about the empty tomb?

Now put yourself into this story and reflect on how you would answer these same five questions.
