A reading from the holy Gospel of St Luke 1:1-9
1After this the LORD appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the LORD of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. 5"When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' 6If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. 8"When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
REFLECTION: Heal the sick who are there and tell them, The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
Today is the feast day of St Luke. St Luke was a physician . He wrote Acts of the Apostle and the Gospel according to St Luke. St Luke accompanied St Paul on his journeys
He tells us of the messages of Jesus--of " joy, mercy, caring for the poor, prayer and The Holy Spirit". ( The Word Among Us). His most concerns were showing Jesus in prayer. He showed us that the Kingdom of God was God over all the universe and He is present in us, in our hearts, showing mercy for all.
If we give ourselves to God, His kingdom will find us. He will give us His word so that we may have abundant life in Him. And He commissions us to share this life giving word to others and hence helping His kingdom come to all.
PRAYER: Dearest Lord, please watch over us and give us all we need to follow your ways. May we share your word with others. Amen.
