A reading from Galatians 4:4-7
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
REFLECTION:
Today we give thanks and praise to God the Father because He gave Mary, who conceived his only Son, to us.
God sent His only Son to “ransom us, so that we may receive adoption as sons”. He equipped us for this awesome journey by breathing the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, so that we cry out “ Abba, Father. (Galatians)
If God was to become man, He had to have a Mother and Mary was whom He chose. He gave her the tools she needed to be the Mother of His Son. God prepared her for the journey she was to undertake. He gave her an Immaculate Heart and a pure womb so she could bear His Son. He gave her the extra gifts needed to teach and form Jesus in His human nature. Her compassion, faith, love and prayers were given to her by God for her journey in motherhood. She was to help Jesus in his formative or hidden years, in his apostolic life and in his suffering life.
Today is the feast of the Divine Motherhood of the Blessed Virgin !
Mary is not only the Mother of God, but she is our mother, our mom, our mama, our maman, our madre, our Me.
God has gifted every one of us for our life’s journey with a most beautiful Mother, His own Mother, to show us the way to Him. Our gifts are to be shared with one another and to accomplish the vocation of our life.
So let us let Mother Mary do for us what she did for Jesus. Ask her to teach us to be prayerful this new upcoming year. Ask her to guide and lead us and to intercede on our behalf to her Son. My Mother Mary has never let me down. She has shown me by her example to live in the most meaningful way through my family, my husband and children. She has helped me fulfill the opportunities given to me by God by showing me how to follow His will. Ask the Mother of God to be your mother and to show you the way to heaven. Ask her to love you and to show you how to love God as she has loved Christ.
