FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 20, 2019

Olivia M. Bannan

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 8: 1-3

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

REFLECTION: "many others who provided for them out of their resources."

The mission of Jesus was to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God by preaching and healing. He went from one village to another, travelling widely, with many followers. The message of Jesus brought all these different people together. In normal times, they would never had associated with each other. In fact there would not have been any healing from the seven demons for Mary Magdalene nor healing of mental or physical infirmities without Jesus.

What brings PAPA together? Our PAPA Family has been brought together united in a bond of friendship, love and loyalty to Jesus. Because of Jesus we pray for the priests who are the living and transparent image of Jesus Christ. Jesus transforms lives, and through the priests makes Himself present in the form of bread and wine for our daily sustenance.

PAPA has very generous members. Many members imitate Jesus in His selfless and sacrificial love and humble service. Many thanks for the many who have helped in the growth of PAPA-- MTC, PAPA Joe, PAPA ProLife praying at the abortion centers, PAPA Communications writing to priests on their anniversaries and birthdays, PAPA Youth Christmas/ Easter card making, PAPA Reflections and Blogs and the generous contribution of monies, resources, homes and talents for the vision to see priests on fire for Jesus and His Church, the Body and Bride of Christ.

Many go and pray for the sick or attend funerals, cook, order the caps, t shirts, tablecloths and banners. Many are silent contributors and do not seek position or to be plauded but quietly do what needs to be done. PAPA serves humbly following the philosophy of Praying, Serving and Blessing always putting the smile of Jesus into the life of anyone we meet.

And our PAPA Spiritual Director has shown us the truths of our faith, how to pray, how to serve but most importantly how to love the PAPA way.

God Bless
