FIRST SATURDAY OF THE THIRTY-FIRST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 6, 2021

A reading of the holy Gospel according to Lk 16:9-15

Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth, so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones. If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth, who will trust you with true wealth? If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours? No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all these things and sneered at him. And he said to them, “You justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts; for what is of human esteem is an abomination in the sight of God.”

REFLECTION

God knows your hearts

The conditions of the first five Saturdays Devotion of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary were announced by Our Lady in Fatima. This were to be for reparation for five consecutive months. They were made to Lucia on December 10, 1925.

When she appeared on this day Our Lady was with the Child Jesus. Jesus spoke, "Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment, while there is no one who does an act of reparation to withdraw them from her."

Our Lady then spoke, "Behold, my daughter, my Heart encircled with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Give me consolation, you, at least; and make known on my behalf that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all who on the First Saturday of five consecutive months:

Confess their sins.

Receive Holy Communion.

Recite five decades of the Rosary.

Keep me company for fifteen minutes meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.

Have the intention or purpose of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart."

These are the minimum requirements for fulfilling the conditions of Our Lady's promise to obtain for us "at the hour of death the graces necessary for salvation."

Attached to the Five First Saturday Devotion are the following:

Salvation of our own soul.

Salvation of sinners.

Peace in the world.

(Promises of Fatima)

God Bless You
