FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 5, 2020
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 11:25-30
At that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to little ones. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.” “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
The Gospel of the Lord
We are allowed to overhear Jesus conversing with His Father. We are invited to join in this communion of Father and Son, always thanking and always joyful.
Jesus finds His own rest in the Father. He is asking us to come rest with Him and therefore in the Father.
The sister of humility is simplicity. When we unload our burdens and possessions and seek nothing but God, our life becomes quite peaceful. Many complications and needs seem to disappear, but again we will still have suffering. But Jesus has promised, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest".
Jesus is inviting us to let Him carry the heavy weight in our lives. Our sufferings will be with Him and His love through the Holy Spirit will sustain us.
Our PAPA family loves Jesus. May we become evangelical activists, spreading the Word of God to the ends of the world. We pray for our priests who bring Jesus to us. Are we letting all know about God? Are we fulfilling the mission of PAPA?
Please join together to pray the PAPA Prayer for Priests.
God Bless You
