REFLECTION
The Lord takes delight in his people.
I have many friends who bring out a "different" me. With one I am shy. With another I am courteous and respectful. I joke and am most relaxed with my high school friends. With another I speak seriously or softly. And yet with another I laugh a lot. With a priest I am polite and listen to his advice. With another I am cautious how I speak, phrase my thoughts and even react to their moods and passions with care.
I am happy for such diverse friends.
What is it about us that God takes delight in His people?
The bible has many references that speak of God's delight in His people and His praise of them. While saving us He rejoices over us with gladness. He takes pleasure in those who fear and love Him. For those who suffer we are drawn closer to the Heart of God.
Why do we take delight in God? He promises to give us the desires of our hearts which the Holy Spirit inspires in us. He wants us to rejoice in Him in hope of His glory. He loves us, especially the lowly, and this love makes us overflow with joy.
So we delight in God and God delights in us. In being right in thinking, feeling and doing what God commands, we love Him. We ask for forgiveness of our sins. In loving, forgiving and serving one another, our happiness will radiate when our hearts are united in the divine heart of God.
Approach God in complete humility thanking Him for all He has done. In turn He will delight in us.
A soul in which the Holy Spirit dwells is never weary in the presence of God; his heart gives forth a breath of love. ( PAPA Top Secret II--The Secret to Eternal Life)
