R. (8b) I long to see your face, O Lord.Hear, O LORD, the sound of my call;have pity on me, and answer me.Of you my heart speaks; you my glance seeks.R. I long to see your face, O Lord.Your presence, O LORD, I seek.Hide not your face from me;do not in anger repel your servant. You are my helper: cast me not off.R. I long to see your face, O Lord.I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORDin the land of the living.Wait for the LORD with courage;be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.R. I long to see your face, O Lord.
REFLECTION
I long to see your face, O Lord.
We have all experienced love. Most fortunate are we that in loving another person, we experience a "smidgen" of the love God has for us. And in being loved back we form a bond--a communion--with God.
We ask Him to hear our call, to have pity and answer us. We seek Him, we want His presence with and within us. We ask Him not to hide His face. We will wait for Him, with courage and strong heart. We anticipate the love that awaits us. All we have to do is to listen to His whispering voice, asking us to say “yes“ to His will, repent of our sins and ask forgiveness.
Because we long for His love, we search for Him everywhere. We see Him in others, we see Him in His creation. Loving us, Jesus left Himself to be consumed and to live and abide in us in the Holy Eucharist.
