FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, SEPTEMBER 16, 2022

A reading of the holy Gospel according to LK 8:1-3

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

REFLECTIONS

"Accompanying him."

In Psalm 43 we read: "If you return to the Lord, then He will not hide his face from you."

One of the benefits of being PAPA is going on a pilgrimage. This year we went with Father Michael, our spiritual advisor, to the Holy Land. For twelve days we accompanied Jesus on a tour of the Holy Land. Each one of us went for different reasons, had different backgrounds and had taken different journeys in finding God.

Some of us were one of the Twelve, some of us had been cured of evil spirits, evil ways, evil doings, some of us wanted more of God and some of us came from households that were too secular.

And as we journeyed together, we finally had to say our goodbyes to one another, with the joy of the many memories, reflections and intimacy with God that He allowed for us to experience.

May I share the Now What? (Found in Pilgrim's Handbook pg 41, Pilgrimage 2022)

Pray This Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, as this pilgrimage comes to an end, help me to walk in newness of life. By your Spirit, transform me into your likeness. Give me your ....[(Here mention in your own words any attributes of Jesus you want to grow in (Patience, humility, compassion, etc.)] Jesus, fill me with your life and love. I ask this in your Most Holy Name, Amen.

Wear This Habit

Charity: It is the visible witness that we are authentic Christians. St Augustine said that two things make our charity visible:

  • Humility

  • Fraternal love

Take On This Mission

Go and make

  • Disciples of PRAYER for Jesus.

Whether you went on this pilgrimage or whether you stayed at home- the Scriptures come alive when we spend time in prayer, accompanying Jesus and his friends on His journey to the Cross. May people see Jesus in us.

God Bless You
