A reading from the holy Gospel according to Lk 8:1-3
Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.Accompanying him were the Twelveand some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities,Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza,Susanna, and many otherswho provided for them out of their resources.
REFLECTION:
"who provided for them out of their resources"
Did you know that God relies on our generosity?
Many of our good works include tithing to the Church, donating to charities, working one on one with the poor, the orphaned, the widowed, and the sick.
That which we are born without is now our accumulated wealth. And many of us hoard. We own 20 + shoes, 50+ outfits, buy at sales, and decorate our homes so that people can "ooh" and "aah" at how well the interior designer put all together. In the real estate world, we "stage" our homes so that we show what life really would be like if we owned less and not be so cluttered. You see, uncluttered homes are more attractive and they sell better.
In today's Gospel, it was the women who supported the ministry of Jesus. And He accepted their help and their presence in the day to day work of His ministry. They gave of themselves as well as their money.
We just had our Second Annual PAPA Conference. We work and pray so that priests can be on fire for Jesus and His Church. We rely solely on donations and we pray and donate our time and talents. We have PAPA Joe ministry help feed the babies and children of Venezuela. We have PAPA for Life pray for the end of abortion. All the babies we rescue may one day be priests and religious. We have over 170 priests throughout the world who appreciate our prayers and words of encouragement in their busy work.
Our ministries are maintained by our material and spiritual gifts and our ministries nourish our spiritual needs. The Catholic priest is a priest for all. Remember PAPA, pray for us and pray for our priests.
