SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 8, 2020
A reading from the Book of Genesis 12:1-4a
The LORD said to Abram: “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.
“I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you.”
Abram went as the LORD directed him.
REFLECTION: “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.
“I will make of you a great nation,
Does God have better plans for you? Is He taking you somewhere else than your plans?
We are on a journey towards our final destination--God's home. We have been invited to come and stay forever with God. When we reflect on our life's journeys we see the different routes each and everyone of us has been called to take. Sometimes our paths will cross and we share our journey with friends from church, neighbors, family, and priests. We pass through trials and difficulties and great moments of joy and happiness. We live in abandonment to the will of God, our Father.
God told Abraham to “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.
“I will make of you a great nation,..... In the Transfiguration, God assures us that we are on the right path. "This is my Son, the Beloved, my Chosen One. Listen to him." God tells us to listen to His Son who will show us the way to His Father's home. Staying focused on the word of God will get us to the glorious destination of being with God and all the saints. Forever
Praying that we and our priests will follow the plan for salvation laid out by God for us. We pray that our priests will have the courage to faithfully teach, preach and show us the route to heaven, and help us maneuver the hurdles of the world. Prayer for Priests.
