A reading of the holy Gospel according to LK 13:18-21
Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.” Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”

REFLECTION
“What is the Kingdom of God like?
As parents, we see our babies grow into adults. And we ask, when did it all happen? It went by so fast! Teyve voiced it all for us in Fiddler on the Roof:
Sunrise/Sunset
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers, blossoming even as we gaze....Wasn't it yesterday when they were small.....swiftly flow the days. Swiftly fly the years. One season following another, Laiden with happiness and tears.
The tiny mustard seed grows quickly to 6-30 feet and spreads as wide. It becomes a safe sanctuary for wandering birds. The Kingdom of God is described as a mustard seed. From just a little seed from God, the kingdom can grow in us and will change our life if we allow it. We can become a sanctuary for a loved one, we can love unselfishly, enjoy God's creation, wonder at the world around us. What is small has the potential to grow from young to old, from fear to joy and happiness.
God nourishes us, and with time we gain the needed strength to bear fruit. And our fruit may be the way that others will allow the seed of God to flourish in them.
Our faith can grow slowly or it can grow rapidly. We can have an abundance or we can have a scarcity. It is all what we do with the seed of faith that God puts in us. If the leaves of our mustard tree are brown and dying, it is time to intensify our prayer life. If we die spiritually we are not able to produce fruit nor share God's love with others. All is a gift from God. We just need to continue to nourish our souls with God, keep awake and conscious of what God is doing and let the love of God take root in our lives.
God Bless You
