Tuesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time July 24, 2018

A reading from the Gospel according to Matthew 12:46-50

While Jesus was speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers appeared outside, wishing to speak with him. Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside , asking to speak with you." But he said in reply to the one who told him, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother." The Gospel of the Lord.

REFLECTIONS: "For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother."

Who wants to belong to the family of God? His followers made up his family of faith. Though they were not related by blood, there is a much more special relationship when one becomes a member of the spiritual family of God. We might not understand all that has been preached, we might not comprehend all the canon laws, or the divinity and humanity of Jesus, but we know we want to follow him and we do that by doing the will of his Father.

Jesus saw his band of followers and put them on the same par or level as his mother. Wow, he loves us that much!!

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for our PAPA family. May we always be in union with you, your heart your mind and your spirit. Amen

God Bless
