Happy Priesthood Sunday!

Howdy from Texas and blessings to all!

What a beautiful day to celebrate our Priests! Today is Priesthood Sunday.

In our Handbook: (p.6) What is "Priest?" -- "In persona Christi capitis in ecclesiae-- In the person of Christ, the Head, in the Church."

St. John Paul II explains the true essence of the priesthood in the Pastores Dabo Vobis, "The priest finds the full truth of his identity in being a derivation, a specific participation in and continuation of Christ Himself, the one High Priest of the new and eternal covenant. The Priest is a living and transparent image of Christ, The Priest... Reference to Christ is thus the absolute necessary key for understanding the reality of the priesthood."

How many of us actually see Christ in the Priesthood?

Our Spiritual Director, Father Michael Truongluan Nguyen C.Ss.R., by the grace of God, lives his life trying to fulfill his vocation by showing Christ to others (in his words, "I want to be a blessing for all"). He has given many teachings to help all people who will listen to be a thankful people, A Eucharistic people. Let us pray for all of our Priests to have the Courage to be Eucharistic and teach others to be Eucharistic also.

I think this is the key to our seeing Christ in the Priesthood.

I want to share one of Father Michael's teachings here. I hope it will post with this blog. Father Michael not only teaches about Christ, he helps us to be teachers of Christ, he helps us and shows us that Christ is the only way. After you watch this video, please feel free to search for more videos of his in O.K. Technology website.

Saint John Vianney, our Patron and the Patron of Priests says, "The priesthood is the love of the Heart of Jesus. When you see a Priest, think of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Let us PRAY for all Priests today and everyday to see their vocation as a blessing, and strive to live out their calling to be CHRIST to all!

God bless you all!
