A reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 25:6-10a
On this mountain the LORD of hosts will provide for all peoples A feast of rich food and choice wines, juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines. On this mountain he will destroy the veil that veils all peoples, The web that is woven over all nations; he will destroy death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces; The reproach of his people he will remove from the whole earth; for the LORD has spoken. On that day it will be said: "Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us! This is the LORD for whom we looked; let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!" For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain.
REFLECTION: ..."let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!"
Day 4 Advent
Jesus is walking with us this Advent journey. In Isaiah we hear of the great feast of rich food and choice wines and how He favors us. Jesus, fully human and divine, reminds us over and over that He will save us, He will provide for us, He will wipe away all our human frailty, all our wrongs, and all our misfortunes. When Jesus touches us, amazing things happen. He gives us hope that we are still salvageable and no matter how far behind we are, He will not leave us alone and will, in fact, destroy death forever.
As we approach God, we are drawn more and more to His goodness. We fall in love naturally, not forced affections, because His bountiful graces overwhelm us. We are told over and over, that He is an intimate friend who furnishes all that we need. All we have to do is just walk with Him and He will stay with us as we sojourn here.
And as in any trip, we always want to share our adventures. When we meet a priest who gives us what we are missing, who personifies Jesus in his care, his self giving and his love for us, we tell all about him. We are a people sometimes lost because we have no leader, sometimes lost because we have not experienced God's love. It is our duty, to help people along the way if they are off track. Pray for them, show them the God who came to save them.
God Bless
