THURSDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 30, 2020

MASS READINGS:

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 4:21-25

Jesus said to his disciples, “Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light. Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear.” He also told them, “Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you. To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

REFLECTION: “Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand?"

God has given us all different missions in life that go along with our gifts, our personalities and our charisms. He invites us all to use what He has given us to spread and tell all about how much He loves us. What a powerful lover we have. He seeks us out and wants all to know about Him.

We have heard that our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. How many catholic politicians set the example of condoning, voting and passing abortion laws? How many churchgoers gossip as soon as they leave the church? Our day to day lives can be stands for God's word. How we handle anger, trying people, deaths, births, successes, failures, and sicknesses are there for all to see. Do we shine the word of God in our marriages, families, homes, workplace, schools or job? Or do we sell out Jesus and hide Him from others.?

We are not just watching others but others are watching us. Be careful so that others will not be disappointed in us. Watch your thoughts for they become words, watch your words, for they become actions, watch your actions for they become habits, watch your habits for they become character, watch your character for it becomes your destiny. ( Saint Mother Teresa)

When we love someone, we can't stop talking about them. We tell everyone all about the one we love. Let us show how much we love God, by putting the lamp of God's Word on tall lampstands. “Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed ,and not to be placed on a lampstand?" Our harvest will be bountiful!

God Bless
