CHRISTOS ANESTI!!!

OUR LORD HAS RISEN!!

"THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE; LET US

REJOICE AND BE GLAD" (Psalm 118)

The Resurrection is the crowning truth of our faith in Christ. God promised the fathers; this truth was handed down by Tradition; documented in the New Testament, seen and preached as an essential part of the Paschal mystery. (CCC #638)

Without the Resurrection of Jesus all hope is lost and there is no meaning to His death. The prophets of the Old Testament bore witness to the Paschal Mystery-- His birth, passion, death and resurrection.

Since Jesus was buried in haste because the Sabbath began on the evening of Good Friday, Mary Magdalene and other women came to the tomb with special oils and spices to finish the anointing. The stone had been removed from the tomb. Mary Magdalene first saw Him but did not recognize Him. Jesus did not just come back to life like Lazarus, the young man of Naim and the daughter of Jairus. He was different.

He was resurrected. He had a new and transformed resurrected body. His new life was with a new glorified state. It is His same body (signs of His torture and death still present) but has properties of a glorious body. He no longer is confined to earth but belongs to the Father's divine realm--beyond time and space. (CCC #645, 646)

Mary recognized Him by His voice and believed. Some apostles doubted, others immediately believed. Pray for us all to have the inspired gift of faith.

We are destined, if we choose heaven, to have a glorified body united in Christ who is united to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

We are called to share in God's very life, united with Him in a new and glorious existence. Christ's humanity entered into the glory of God. He has promised the same for those who follow Him to heaven. We look forward to this. May we be with Him in glory. (CCC 646, 656)
