Jesus taught in metaphors. Imagine yourself in the middle of a dark room holding a candle. That candle can light up an entire room. Are you capable and willing to be a source of light for many? And just what does that mean?
Our goal and mission is to get ourselves, family, friends and strangers into heaven. We can accomplish this by allowing the light of God's grace to "shine before others".
The problem is in how we do it. No one likes a braggart, a show off, a know it all. Pride is just waiting in that same dark room, ready to point to itself, keeping the spotlight on itself and then becoming the object of the glory and the praise. Not God.
Pride can also be a means for a humble gifted person to be sidetracked with compliments and praises for the gifts they have. We are to do His work, for His Glory and let others see the Light of Christ as He acts through us. Our goal is to act purely out of love of God.
Pray for the true Light to shine in ourselves and others. Pray that we glorify God in all we do.
