Gospel

“I am the resurrection and the life;

whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live,

and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.

Do you believe this?”

REFLECTION

MB remembers fondly the words of the priest spoken to him at confession during his troubled times.

This is what confession should be. During confession we have a personal very intimate time with Jesus, when He shows us His utmost love, mercy and compassion.

The priest who is "persona in Christi" is truly Jesus talking to us, giving us advice and speaking to us during confession.

The death of Lazarus reminds us of the "stench" of mortal sin and how Jesus wept, was deeply troubled and perturbed. And that is how we, too, should respond to the stench of our soul that has no life.

Come back to God. Perhaps our Lent is not what it could have been, perhaps all our promises, fasting, giving of alms were not what we wanted.

Remember, God knows us better than ourselves and will never forsake us. He knows our goodness and our flaws. With confession He brings us back to life and at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass He gives us life.

"I am the resurrection and the life;

whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live,

and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.

Do you believe this?”

Jesus at confession says to the world, the flesh and the devil, "Untie him and let him go."

And on "our day" may we hear him say to us "Lazarus, come out."

"Do you believe this?"

God bless you.
