FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, JULY 9, 2023

Olivia M. Bannan

Gospel

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy and my burden light."

REFLECTION

In CCC 397 it states: "Man, tempted by the devil, let his trust in his Creator die in his heart and, abusing his freedom, disobeyed God's command....All subsequent sin would be disobedience toward God and lack of trust in His goodness."

Peace and eternal life is promised us by God if we live by the Spirit. Little children don't rely on themselves but depend on their parents. They live in the freedom as children of God. Their parents do the worrying.

It is time to allow God to be our Father, time not to be childish but childlike. Time to take extreme delight in all He gives us.

God is in charge. Talk to Him continuously, be happy in your surroundings, thankful for small blessings and always be open for His help.

"Come to me", He tells us.

And we in turn have been shown by Jesus how love can help others fulfill their human tasks. Try kind words, a smile, little acts of self denial for the good of another, lighten the load of others, offer small acts of service, give encouragement and hope.

Tell them about Jesus by how we treat them.

God bless you
