Then He taught them saying, "Is it not written: My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples? But you have made it a den of thieves.”
REFLECTION
The Catechism of the Catholic Church in #2559 says, "prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God".
When praying or conversing with God we should be filled with confidence and love. God is physically present in our Catholic Church, in the Holy Eucharist. The majesty and glory of God are hidden in the Blessed Sacrament.
He also resides in our hearts. As St John Chrystosom said of prayer, "If you converse with Him, one on one, you can accomplish a lot, with no one hassling you or cheating you of your supplications".
Many are present before God, and yet, we are alone with Him. We approach God. We don't need skills, degrees, accomplishments, but just a simple, humble and repentant heart. In our littleness we can open up to God's greatness.
Pray for "good" for those whom He has placed in your heart. Pray with confidence for His kindness, mercy and graces. Avoid thieves entering your heart.
