FRIDAY OF THE FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, JULY 21, 2023
"Father, there will be nothing difficult here, provided we have a Crucifix." (St Lawrence of Brindisi, scholar, Capuchin priest, preacher and chaplain of Imperial Army)
We hunger for love. Many seek it in humans, pets, material goods, careers, family, filling their lives with gadgets, working toward praise and accomplishments.
God is love. He can never change. The supreme Lord of all, He depends on no one. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we depend on Him: He is love, mercy, and goodness. He so loved us that He gave His only Son and the Son so loved His Father that He obeyed Him. The Incarnated Lord came down to save us from hell. The Crucifix is His love.
And we are to mirror God. When we see the Crucifix we are reminded of His love and that He will be with us through all things.
Ask for the faith of St Lawrence of Brindisi. As long as we have the Crucifix, the victory is ours. God will console, help us and set us free.
