As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out, "Son of David, have pity on us!" When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them," Do you believe that I can do this?"" Yes, Lord," they said to him. Then he touched their eyes and said, "Let it be done for you according to your faith." And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this." But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.
REFLECTION
"Let it be done to you according to your faith."
Last Monday we met the centurion praying to Jesus. He searched for Him, got up his courage and asked Him for the healing of his servant. Jesus answered, “I will come and cure him”. His faith saved his servant.
Today we watch the two blind men following Him. Most likely with the help of the crowd, they found the path to Him, and when close enough yelled out , “Son of David, have pity on us”. Their faith walked them to the house. “Let it be done to you according to your faith” were the last words heard before their vision was restored.
Their faith was the fire in their seeking Jesus. Let us scrutinize for a moment what inspires our actions. Are we too self sufficient that we never rely on God, His mercy and saving graces? Are we seeking God as someone who at anytime we call out He answers all our needs? Have our souls become dull, dispensing with God as unnecessary?
He made us so that we may know and love Him freely.Seek Him because of who He is and what He has done for us. Advent is the time to prepare for the celebration of His birth but also to anticipate His second coming. Hopefully He will find our soul fit to receive Him. Correct the course of our lives, follow His path. Take advantage of these four weeks doing penance, praying, going to confession. performing works of charity.
