FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, SEPTEMBER 20, 2024

Gospel

Lk 8:1-3

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

REFLECTION

provided for them out of their resources.

The call for help came. This meant all scheduled events would need to be rescheduled or cancelled. She needed assistance.

What brings us together in friendship, service and loyalty? Love shown to us by Jesus and through His servants is a catalyst to saying, “Yes”. We rearrange our lives, commitments and a natural desire to help takes over.

Gratitude is a big mover of what we do. Words are easy to fill the air, but works need no definition.

We hear about the sinner, Mary Magdalene; Joanna, King Herod’s wealthy lady in court; Susanna and many other women who had been delivered from evil spirits serving God from their own resources.

We should be ready to serve Jesus when He calls us to spread His good news. Travelling on a pilgrimage is a great opportunity to meet many different people. No past history, no questions, no one is unimportant or unnecessary. Our common bond is love of Jesus. Sharing how our journeys merged, we help each other in friendship, support the Church through our donations and pray for family, neighbor, friends, enemies and more good priests.

Let us bring our resources, gifts and talents to God in humility to be used in His service.

“Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received - only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.” St Francis of Assisi

Have a nice day!

God Bless You
