MEMORIAL OF ST DOMINIC, FRIDAY OF THE EIGHTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, AUGUST 8, 2025

ree

Gospel

Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay each according to his conduct. Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom."

REFLECTION

"Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me"....

To come after Him we

  1. Must Deny ourselves

  2. Must Take up our cross

  3. Must Follow Him

Unless morally wrong, rules are for keeping order, guidance and unity among people.

Our Lord is glorified as the one Person who took away sin, reconciled all men to His Father accomplishing all through His Incarnation, Passion and Death on the Cross. And for our glorification He asks of us to deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow Him.

What is the motivation toward this goal?

The goal is to be like Jesus! Are we wiling to love God by way of submission to His Will? He promises glory and joy to those who want to come after Him. Our Father is inviting us to eternal joy, happiness and glory.

Jesus has shown us how to love His Father and how much He loves us. Let us follow Him to Heaven!!

God Bless You. Please pray for priests and for one another.
