When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets.What is bad they throw away.Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace,where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth." Jesus asked them:"Do you understand all these things?" They answered, "Yes." And he replied, "Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old."

St Jerome
In St Jerome's commentary on Isaiah, he said, '"I interpret as I should, following the command of Christ: 'Search the Scriptures, and Seek and you shall find.' For if Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and if the man who does not know Scripture does not know the power and wisdom of God, then 'Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ'"
Who was St Jerome?
Eusebius Sophronius Hieronymus, later known as Jerome, was born (347) in the town of Stridon, somewhere in the Balkans. St. Jerome was one of the great scholars and Fathers of the early Church. He is best known for translating the Bible into Latin:
As a young man, he loved classical literature and learning. After a deeper conversion to Christ, he devoted himself increasingly to prayer, Scripture, penance, and the service of the Church.
For a time, Jerome lived as a hermit in the desert of Syria, where he practiced severe penance and studied Hebrew. He was later ordained a priest and eventually went to Rome, where he served as secretary to Pope Damasus I. The pope encouraged him to revise the existing Latin translations of Scripture.
Jerome spent many years translating the Bible from Hebrew and Greek into Latin. His translation became known as the Vulgate and was used throughout the Western Church for centuries. His life shows his conviction that Christians must know the Word of God.
After leaving Rome, Jerome settled in Bethlehem, near the place of Christ’s birth. There he founded monasteries, continued translating and writing, taught Scripture,
and lived a life of prayer and penance. He remained in Bethlehem until his death around A.D. 420.
St. Jerome could be strong-tempered and outspoken, but he had a tremendous love for Christ and Sacred Scripture. The Church honors him as a Doctor of the Church and the patron saint of biblical scholars, translators, librarians, and students of Scripture.
