R. (13b) Lord, you give back to everyone according to his works.
Only in God is my soul at rest;
from him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed at all.
R. Lord, you give back to everyone according to his works.
Only in God be at rest, my soul,
for from him comes my hope.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold;
I shall not be disturbed.
R. Lord, you give back to everyone according to his works.
Trust in him at all times, O my people!
Pour out your hearts before him;
God is our refuge
R. Lord, you give back to everyone according to his works.
REFLECTION
I shall not be disturbed at all.
St Teresa was the beauty of a soul in grace. Though she suffered from poor health all her life, she accomplished a lot, reforming the Carmelite order, establishing the Discalced Carmelites, founded thirteen monasteries and fourteen new convents. She shared her spiritual insights of her interior life, The Interior Castle, using the metaphor of an inner castle to describe the soul’s journey toward God.
After she died, her handwritten prayer “Let Nothing Disturb You” was found written along the margins of her breviary.
Known for her exceptional administrative skills, she also was known for her spiritual experiences, including visions and levitation. In 1970, Pope Paul VI proclaimed her Doctor of the Church.
May we pour out our hearts before Him as St Teresa of Avila did, knowing that God is our refuge.
God bless you
