MONDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK IN ADVENT NOVEMBER 29, 2021

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah Is 2:1-5

This is what Isaiah, son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. In days to come, The mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established as the highest mountain and raised above the hills. All nations shall stream toward it; many peoples shall come and say: “Come, let us climb the LORD’s mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, That he may instruct us in his ways, and we may walk in his paths.” For from Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and impose terms on many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD!

REFLECTION

O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD!

Advent is the hope of the coming of God's intimate presence in human existence and lives.

But, yet, daily news that creep into our cell phones, radio, television and other social media remind us of the violence around us: murders, rapes, child abuse, abortion, shootings, accidents and many more.

Noise is all around us!! yes or no?

In Isaiah we are reminded of the Lord's call for justice and peace. God is with us on this Advent journey to keep us secure and safe. We have to be reminded over and over that we are not alone.

Today: Seek out kindred spirits who want to be our travel companions and we theirs. Together we have a better chance to stay safe and fight off the world. Keep the violence in our hearts, mouths and minds in check; acknowledge that we are close to losing all, if we lose our focus.

Let us be a sign of God in our midst.

God Bless You.
