Gospel

"And they ridiculed him."

REFLECTION

The dictionary defines ridicule: subject (someone or something) to contemptuous and dismissive language or behavior. Such as "his theory was ridiculed and dismissed". Synonyms: deride, mock.

The thoughts that never express themselves can be the best examination of conscience. These thoughts have the potential of escaping and becoming known and perhaps true. So we can ridicule when no words are spoken, when no interest is taken in others endeavors or outright "poking fun" at what people do, say and even how they pray.

The woman who was hemorrhaging had a quiet faith, for her it was just enough to touch His garment. Imagine what someone watching her would think! The official had a louder faith-kneeling before Jesus making his request for all to see and hear. The crowd ridiculed Jesus because they did not believe in Him.

Whether faith is out there for all to see or quiet, we cannot claim to be followers of Christ if at the same time we do not follow His words or will. We cannot ridicule Our Lord in our thoughts or in our actions.

God Bless You
