MONDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER MAY 4, 2020

Writer: Olivia M. Bannan Olivia M. Bannan

Responsorial Psalm 42:2-3; 43:3, 4

R. (see 3a) Athirst is my soul for the living God. As the hind longs for the running waters, so my soul longs for you, O God. Athirst is my soul for God, the living God. When shall I go and behold the face of God? R. Athirst is my soul for the living God. Send forth your light and your fidelity; they shall lead me on And bring me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling-place. R. Athirst is my soul for the living God. Then will I go in to the altar of God, the God of my gladness and joy; Then will I give you thanks upon the harp, O God, my God! R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.

REFLECTION: " Athirst is my soul for the living God."

We feel the connection. Something or someone touches us. All of a sudden our heart opens and we know that love is real. We are all born with a desire to love and be loved. Love does not force itself and will in fact let us leave.

The coronavirus has slowed down my pace, and I find myself walking, pausing and enjoying the beauty of nature around me. My busyness, my socializing, my experiencing life has been put on hold. It seemed I was hurrying, here and there, trying to catch up with what I was thirsting for. And now, every morning I enjoy His beautiful flowers. In the evening, the plants droop from the heat of the day. But " Athirst is my soul for the living God" when upright flowers wake up to praise the Lord.

In this beautiful weather, and time spent at home, I have found my altar, my praying place in the garden of His lovely creation. The birds are chirping, snails are slowly arriving, rabbits are searching for food and squirrels are scurrying about --all getting ready to thank the Lord. One can feel the Holy Spirit as the morning sun shines through the clouds in the gentle breeze.

Nature encourages us to pray continuously and constantly because we are reminded of His love. It is a habit we should cultivate. We are called to spread this good news of God and share it with all. The signs that God gives us in our gardens, remind us that it is not just good enough to do good for people but we need to witness to the gospel. We pray for priests to be on fire of this truth that Jesus Christ loves and heals. Just follow Him.

Our love for one another is Christ centered and must be accompanied by the proclamation of the Gospel. We are led to faith in the person of Jesus. We know and are convinced, not an opinion, that Jesus is the Son of God. We have come to believe in Jesus, who is God. Everything He says is true. So follow.

God's message does not pick and choose what He wants us to see and what He wants us to believe. We are to accept it in its totality. We have come to believe and we wish to share our love with the whole world.

God Bless You.
