REFLECTION

“Why are you so resentful and crestfallen.

If you do well, you can hold up your head;

but if not, sin is a demon lurking at the door:

his urge is toward you, yet you can be his master.”

A feral mother cat with three kittens lived in our garage. We were all scared of this cat. Anytime we walked into the garage she would hiss loudly. After a while of playing hide and seek with her, we finally trapped her. My husband drove her out to the country. Opening the passenger door, he placed the trap on the ground, opened the door to let her out and quickly got in the car and drove off. Half way home he heard the familiar hissing sound. The cat was back in the car. Eventually we were able to capture the cat and get our garage back.

The cat loose in the car was scary. Terrifying is the fact that "sin is a demon lurking at the door".

What destroyed the relationship between Cain and Abel? Resentment, jealousy, sense of injustice, anger, and entitlement to name a few.

We try to create boundaries to let only good in our lives. Unfortunately we flounder in our attempt to control what comes in if we leave the door open. We wonder why we don't improve, why we don't get better. Why do we fail?

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. God speaks to us but do we listen, learn, discern and accept His Will and guidance? He shows us how we can master our weaknesses, temptation and sin.

When we close the door to sin, we need the Master to keep it locked and teach us how to fight the good fight and to prayerfully wait for His help.

God Bless You
