A reading of the holy Gospel according to LK 11:29-32
While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them,“This generation is an evil generation;it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it,except the sign of Jonah.Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites,so will the Son of Man be to this generation.At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generationand she will condemn them,because she came from the ends of the earthto hear the wisdom of Solomon,and there is something greater than Solomon here.At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it,because at the preaching of Jonah they repented,and there is something greater than Jonah here.”
REFLECTION
This generation is an evil generation;
It is easy to see and then believe. Nowadays, many people say the most ridiculous, unbelievable statements and demand and expect us to believe them. So many redefinitions and interpretations of what God intended. No proof no analysis. You believe or else you will be cancelled.
Jesus can surely refer to this generation as an evil generation. Political figures running on promises that your unborn baby can be killed if you want at any time. LGBTQ now is a 10 minute feature before a children's movie at the theatres. Genders are redefined. Men compete with women in sports and teachers can counsel your children regarding gender identity without parental permission.
Jesus is not a miracle show nor a person we see perform for us. He brought about salvation with the stumbling block of the Cross. Through Faith people find Christ-- not in signs. Through this faith we find the way to obey Him, serve Him and defend Him.
