MONDAY OF THE TWENTY-FIFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, SEPTEMBER 19, 2022

A reading of the holy Gospel according to Lk 8:16-18

Jesus said to the crowd: "No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away."

REFLECTION

"He places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light"

PAPA prays for priests. We pray that the priests will show their flock the way to the Paschal light. 2 Timothy 4:2 says, "Preach the word; insist upon it, welcome and unwelcome". God reproaches his servants. They are to recall the straying sheep and seek after the lost sheep.

And we, too, are to show this light and life of the risen Lord to all we know and encounter. We are to bother about all whom God puts in our lives. And how can we show this light?

  • Refuse no one the good on which he has a claim and when in our power to do it for him.

  • When you can give at once, give.

  • Plot no evil.

  • Do not quarrel without cause with one who has done you no harm.

  • Do not envy.

  • Develop a friendship with the upright one.

  • Be just and the blessings of the Lord will be upon you.

  • Be stern to the arrogant.

  • Be kind to the humble. (Proverbs 3:27-34)

We all have the light of Christ inside. Take care then how we treat one another.

God Bless You
