15 "While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him." (Lk 24:15)
REFLECTION
Life is so full of unexpected events that rock our faith or even cause us to become disillusioned, as was the case with these two disciples on their way from Jerusalem to Emmaus, after the crucifixion and death of our Lord. They had even heard that our Jesus had resurrected but apparently not convinced, in their hearts!
Jesus does not leave us in that state when we are heavy ladened with sorrow and doubts; He appears out of nowhere to accompany us on the road. God does, however, permit our faith to be tested as he did with these two disciples to strengthen our faith "their eyes were kept from recognizing him", although he was present with them immediately. Open the eyes of my heart Lord!
