Jesus said to his disciples: "Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. "Then Peter said, "Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?" And the Lord replied, "Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute the food allowance at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so. Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that servant says to himself,' My master is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the menservants and the maid servants, to eat and drink and get drunk, then that servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish the servant severely and assign him a place with the unfaithful. That servant who knew his master's will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely; and the servant who was ignorant of his master's will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more."
REFLECTION
"Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more."
Karol Jozef Wojtyla was born in 1929 in Poland. His mother died when he was 9 and at that young age he asked Mother Mary to be his mother.
In 1978 he was elected Pope and took the name, John Paul II. He was greatly loved. In his apostolic zeal for families, the young people and the sick, he left a heritage to the Church. On April 2, 2005 (on the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday ) he died. He was canonized by Pope Francis on April 27, 2014, Divine Mercy Sunday.
St Pope John Paul II showed us what it means to be a steward in the modern world. Everything we have is a gift from God. We share, not hoard, what He has entrusted to us, not abusing our authority nor neglecting our responsibilities.
In a special meeting with the clergy in Rome on February 13, 1997, St John Paul II emphasized that the steward is not the owner but the person to whom the owner has entrusted His property, so that we can manage it with dedication and responsibility. The priest receives from Christ the gifts of salvation for the benefit of each believer and of the whole people of God. The parish priest has a local church entrusted to him We pray for their important commission.
PAPA prays for the continuous formation of our priests, all--the sick, the elderly, the young, the missionary, the attacked and injured. We pray that they keep alive the gift from God and their vocational ministry. For Jesus said, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide. (John 15:16).
All for the Glory of God, please join us in lifting up our priests with the PAPA Prayer for Priests.
