His tools are spiritual—the Word of God, the Eucharist, mercy, and love. He must know when to prune and when to nourish, when to speak and when to listen, always trusting that the harvest belongs not to him but to God........

""And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!" But they have not all heeded the gospel; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ.""

(Romans 10: 15-17)

This past Sunday I attended the funeral wake of one of my family members; a young lady, named Jackie. She was a 38 year old mother with two small children -  a beautiful attractive young lady addicted to drugs which took her life. I wept and I felt angry. The devil is a liar and a destroyer - make no mistake about it!!!

I felt helpless and overwhelmed by my limited reach. It helped me understand more clearly then ever our Lord's plea to pray to the Lord of the harvest for more 'labors' to work in the field. We live in a war zone; look at the body-count around us - this is not the time for timidity or shyness; it's a time to cast off any feelings of inadequacy, it's a time to believe that it's not by might, not by power, but by God's Holy Spirit. The gates of hell will not prevail against us when we preach and share the Name which above all names, Jesus the Lord. Amen!
