"Do you not yet have faith?"

REFLECTION

"Do you not yet have faith?"

We have all read and heard many essays and sermons based on the squall and the lack of faith of the apostles.

A mother prays in faith when her ten year old child has a medical accident and is left brain damaged. A mother steps up to care for her adult son who suffered brain trauma in a vehicular accident and continues with her volunteer work at Church, praying in faith.

An atheist relative asks, "Where is your God now"? A fallen away Catholic with hardness of heart, bitterness and maybe hatred asks, "Where is your God"?

When faced with the above questions, we try or think we should explain. When in shock, facing danger or death, fear or even anger can crowd out our faith. We try to make sense of what is happening. We struggle to understand suffering and why it happens. We wonder if God takes interest in human affairs.

In Job, God answered his questions by reminding him of His sovereignty. Job wanted to know "Why", the above doubters wanted to know "Where", but God answered with "Who".

Faith was evidenced by Abraham with complete trust in the Lord. He knew who He was and never hesitated nor wavered from his faith. He trusted and therefore hoped.

We are led to God not by fear but by love. God's presence rules in our heart. He gave up everything, including His life, to bring us to Him and prepares a place for us to spend eternity with Him.

Step by step, Jesus unites with us, through small movements of our hearts.

The Lord is rich in gifts and graces. Focus on Him. God is enough for us. Trust Him. Hope in Him. Do His Will.

As difficult as life is, remember, Jesus cried out," My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Psalm 22)

His Father never forsakes.

God Bless You
