“It is I. Do not be afraid.”

REFLECTION

The fountain of water which Zachariah foretold would be accessible to all is the Blessed Sacrament. (St Alphonsus Liguori, Visits to the Blessed Sacrament) These waters from the fountain give us light.

The apostles were in the darkness in stormy waters. They were not afraid because they were experienced, professional fishermen. They had worked in these conditions.

Though Jesus had withdrawn to the mountain alone, His apostles were not alone.

It was the unknown, seeing Jesus walking on the sea and nearing them that they began to be afraid.

Though they left without Him, Jesus knew where they were. He found them, reassured them and immediately took them to their destination.

In our journey, we will find ourselves in the unfamiliar. We may have cancer, children with problems, turbulent marriages, financial constraints or profound grief. But if we look carefully we will see the manifestation of God's love, rather than what looks like punishment.

God visits us and draws us closer to Himself and gives us His peace.

Jesus came to save us, not to condemn us. Take advantage that we can visit with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Empty ourselves to Him, shredding the darkness of sins.

Enjoy the water of life from His fountain of salvation.

God Bless You
