Gospel

"There are also many other things that Jesus did,

but if these were to be described individually,

I do not think the whole world would contain the books

that would be written."

REFLECTION

Remember the last day of school? We looked forward to 3 months of vacation. Our parents kept us busy, though, with activities: painting classes, sewing, swimming lessons, vacation bible with the nuns, reading books for fun, piano lessons, cooking with mom, visiting cousins or grandparents or traveling with family to close and far away places. Their goal was to keep us busy but also an opportunity to learn outside the academic framework and stay within God's Kingdom.

Preparation for all these activities was necessary to avoid snags. Packing lightly was necessary for vacations. Keeping an open mind and willing to learn and to be taught made summers fun.

We have travelled with St John this Easter season. His Gospel has been the central focus of the Easter season. His love for Jesus is apparent in his poetic symbolic writing. His writing is so different from the other apostles.

He witnessed all the activities of Jesus. John stated that the reason he wrote his Gospel was so “that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name” (John 20:31).

He got to know, observe and understand Jesus. And this knowledge he shares with us and in us transform these graces into a profound belief in God.

He went on to say, "There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written". (John 21:25)

Jesus calls us to learn from Him love, prayer and hope. He has touched our hearts and minds and we have come to know His salvation for all, the forgiveness of sin and eternal life.

Prepare to let His love come to life in us. Observe the lives of the saints, the apostles and holy priests. All pray unceasingly, are detached from the world, and bring to the forefront of going out to all the world letting all know about God.

This summer prepare for the life intended for us. Do not just exist but add meaning to this pilgrimage we sojourn. Add excitement. And with the same zeal for the summer holidays ahead of us may we grow in the love of God.

God bless you.
