SATURDAY OF THE THIRTY-FOURTH OR LAST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 27, 2021

A reading of the holy Gospel according to Lk 21:34-36

Jesus said to his disciples: “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”

REFLECTION

“Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap."

Tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent. Jesus reminds us of the passing of life and the importance of looking into our soul and not following the superficiality of life.

Anxiety and worries with its tribulations can lead us away from God or we can turn to God and with a good prayerful life grow in our relationship with God. So when we are being wayward, carousing and living life for ourselves we will be caught by surprise when our day comes. We won't be prepared.

Jesus warns us over and over again that we are not made for this world but for Him. With hope and faith, be awake, alert and aware of our surroundings, our sinfulness and a desire to do good.

God Bless You
