SATURDAY OF THE THIRTY FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 26, 2022

A reading of the holy Gospel according to LK 21:34-36

Jesus said to his disciples: “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”

REFLECTION

Be vigilant at all times

We are called to follow Jesus closely. And we ask, "Lord, what would you have me do?" I believe we all know that answer--The Will of God!

So what holds us back?

Unruly desires, sin, pride, disordered thoughts and material goods--too much food, drink, clothing, and other distractions keep us away from the love of God. Many of us prefer the love and acceptance of man rather than pleasing God.

Choose what is good, what is of God and we will find the Truth. If we ask, God will give to us if what we ask is in His Will. He is looking for us, watching us and wants us to be in paradise with Him. We need to be alive, awake, aware, attentive, attuned, atoned and ready when He calls. Our vigilance should keep us close to His Will.

God bless you
