A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mt 11:25-30 (Optional Memorial)
At that time Jesus answered:"I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these thingsfrom the wise and the learnedyou have revealed them to the childlike.Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Sonand anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him."Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,for I am meek and humble of heart;and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."
REFLECTION
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest."
I found myself angry, upset and carrying a “martyred wounded heart” only because my husband snapped at me. Wait a minute!! I am supposed to help him get to heaven. How is being angry to him going to help him in his salvation and to know God is real? Is this not my true great mission to show God's love?
How many times have I snapped at God, upset that He did not think my plans were good enough or upset that I lost a most precious part of my life and the void is still there.
At times our past pains surface and I wonder why now? I thought it was all good. But, perhaps, we need reminders that we still need help and that God hears all our pleas and cries. Jesus appeared to St Margaret Mary Alacoque and revealed His Sacred Heart.
Time and time again, the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus fills us with joyous song, thanksgiving, and the comfort of His mercy. Kindness and patience reside in Him and I must give Him all, for forgiveness, repentance and rest.
