SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, JULY 30, 2023

Reading 2

"Brothers and sisters:

We know that all things work for good for those who love God,

who are called according to his purpose."

REFLECTION

God can change our lives filling us with meaning and joy. We, for our part, pay the price by deliberately avoiding evil and the near occasion of sin.

The devil is present in our lives, not necessarily just in "bad people". The devil flies under the radar, making the flesh and the world enticing. Our attention is directed to the evils of wars, abortions, murders and we lose sight that while the spectacular is before us, Satan is working to undermine us in a very personal way. His intention is death. At times we are unaware of his presence, though we intentionally welcome him.

The Holy Spirit is always present showing us new ways of living out our Christianity: prayer and service. Our goal is to allow the Holy spirit to conform us to the image of Jesus in all His glory. He helps us in our inadequacies and inexperience.

In Baptism we were plunged into the death of Jesus, becoming part of His living Body, the Church. We share our gifts, helping and serving others, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Live life in all the tiny inspirations that happen every day. Examine ourselves as to what have we done for God, for others. Do we give our all for all we do?

So on that day when our final net of deeds is gathered for all to see and show what we brought to the Lord, may we not fear the angels separating the good from the bad in what we have to offer.

May death not be present and may the sweet angels deliver us to eternal life with God.

Change our ways, if needed, before it is too late. Remember, "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."

God Bless You
