SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER, JUNE 1, 2025

Responsorial Psalm Psalm 97:1-2, 6-7, 9

The Lord is king, the most high over all the earth

The LORD is king; let the earth rejoice; let the many islands be glad. Justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne.

The Lord is king, the most high over all the earth

The heavens proclaim his justice, and all peoples see his glory. All gods are prostrate before him.

The Lord is king, the most high over all the earth.

You, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth, exalted far above all gods.

The Lord is king, the most high over all the earth.

REFLECTION

"The LORD is king; let the earth rejoice"

"The Lord is King..." do we really accept this reality?

The other day, my kids and I were cruising through our neighborhood. One of the houses was all decked in rainbow flags, colors, and other tchotchkes. The house next door had a sign that read "this is my rainbow flag", as it pointed towards a huge current president flag.

Of course at first we chuckled. Upon reflection, this is no good to be divided by the culture wars. Hate begets violence.

May, the month of Mary, has ended. June has started, and this is traditionally dedicated to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Jesus has given us 12 promises through St. Margaret Mary for those who persevere in devotion to His Sacred Heart:

  1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.

  2. I will establish peace in their homes.

  3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.

  4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.

  5. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.

  6. Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.

  7. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.

  8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.

  9. I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored.

  10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

  11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart.

  12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment."

How awesome is this King that only wants us to be in Heaven with Him! He is always giving us help and opportunities so we can continue to follow Him throughout our lives.

Sacred Heart of Jesus ~ I trust in you!
