SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER, MAY 10, 2026

Jesus said to his disciples: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him.

But you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you.

I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live.

On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you.

Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me.

And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”

REFLECTION

Wow! It's been 36 days since Easter Sunday! In just a few days we are going to celebrate the Ascension of the Lord. And in two Sundays Pentecost, when we celebrate the institution of the Church.

Jesus tells us in today's Gospel of the Advocate, who will be with us always. So we are not alone, He is with us.

Many years ago I was having a conversation with someone that did not believe in the Primacy of Peter or the priesthood. This person thought that Jesus came, and then left. Just like that. And we were pretty much left to our own devices-- what the Church followed were "rules made by men". (Emphasis in the gender: men).

I wish I had known a little more about our faith back then so I could have said something in defense of our faith. Maybe I would have pointed this person to the Johannine discourses: The Bread of Life, The Last Supper, The Advocate and its coming, etc.

Attending or streaming our Bible study, Face ZBS, really has helped understand the Bible, and what we believe in.

Drop by when you have a chance, or stream our YouTube channel to learn more about our faith.

God bless y'all!
