SOLEMNITY OF ST JOSEPH SPOUSE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, MARCH 19, 2026

Today is the solemnity of Saint Joseph; the only man and Saint who was privileged to be called "father" by Our Lord Jesus; the only man whom Jesus promptly obeyed his every command; the only man whom he looked upon with deepest admiration, respect, and love; the man who personified the inevitable influence a father has on his son (or daughter) by his example. Jesus would later stress the importance of it.

“Amen, amen, I say to you, a son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for what he does, his son will do also." 

(John 5: 19)

Whether man or woman, we do well to take Saint Joseph as our spiritual father and model; that is, to listen to God's word as he did, to act promptly on it as he did, and to live a chaste and holy life as he did.
