" ...I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as dung, that I may gain Christ"
(Douay Rheims Bible)
I assume everyone knows what "dung" is. Spending my early childhood on a farm I quickly learned what "dung" was after I stepped in it. Newer translations of the Bible have substituted more polite or genteel verbiage--as if our present culture needs it--with words such as, "rubbish" or "refuse". PLEASE!! St Paul was not one who minced words.
"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
(Luke 12:34)
The loss of material possessions, or relationships, or anything else that encumbers our relationship with Jesus, has to go!!!
