THE IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, JUNE 28, 2025

ree

Gospel

Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

REFLECTION

and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

The world is used to fast pace... get to traffic exit before the other cars, find the short grocery line, shorter confessional queues, and the list goes on and on. It is hard to fast pace a book, though, because we need to know the characters, why they think the way they do, say what they feel, and emote through their pains and joys. Life is not an AI generated scene, where we expect an essay in less than five minutes or an image made the way we want it to be.

Life is to be enjoyed to its fullest not wanting to beat out our fellow man but to enjoy the splendor of what the day brings. Mother Mary drew from life as the heavenly mysteries were being unlocked before her. As she was led by the Holy Spirit, she was filled with joy, yet remained humble. Obeying the Word of God in all things, she lived not in her own judgement or opinions but lived out what Wisdom shared with her.

Our mothers are our role models. We learn from them: how to sew, cook, think, pray, speak and love with a heart open for all. Imitate our Mother Mary as she shows us the path to purity. There is no "acting out our faith", but let her show us her disposition, her love by allowing her to show us the temple of her heart where her Son lives.

God Bless You
